ANC News Channel's KINSE short films on Human Rights
April 2011 - Raymond Red is one of fifteen prominent filmmakers chosen to do shorts dealing with the different aspects of Human rights issues. Red wrote, shot, directed, and edited his new short film "BANGIN" (Cliff's Edge) which deals with workers' rights. He shot it guerilla-style with digital SLR HD camera.

On-going since January 2011:
Raymond Red is still in the process of digitally remastering his early Super-8mm short films from the 1980s by using the latest technology for scanning super-8mm footage as HD data. Funding has been sourced through the support of the Film Development Council of the Phils. and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, for this expensive and tedious technical process. (see article below on remastering of feature films)

February-April 2010 - Raymond Red went into pre-production for his short film contribution to the ABS-CBN "AmBisyon 2010" Project, an omnibus of 20 shorts by 20 independent filmmakers focusing on 10 relevant issues meant as a wake up call to the voting public before the May Elections. It was released in April 2010 with his segment entitled "PUSILA" (Shoot), a commentary on corruption and the abuse of power in Philippine politics using an homage and parody on the infamous "russian roulette" scene in the film "Deer Hunter".

Film Restoration / Digital Re-mastering:

2008
- The digital remastering of Red's two early feature films BAYANI (1992) and SAKAY  (1993) have been in progress for some time now and SAKAY had just been released by Unico Pictures under their Cinefilipino label on DVD format. BAYANI is still being remastered in Ignite Media facilities, while the TV movie "KAMADA" (1997) is being restored at Filmex studios.

Commercial projects:

June - July  2008 -  Raymond Red worked on a commissioned experimental short for a special major July 25 event, the BENCH BLACKOUT Denim and Underwear Fashion Show. It was presented as a video wall backdrop for a special fashion show segment featuring Red as an artist and filmmaker. Inspired by the early motion studies of photographer Edweard Muybridge in the 1800s, Red hired 2 male and 2 female models and shot them on HD video, later processing the images to simulate the animated freeze-frame stills. All the digital color grading, texturing, layering, and animation were done at Dave Hukom's IGNITE MEDIA Digital post-house. The short may be released in the future on DVD by BENCH.

Multi-media / Visual Arts

- Red is in planning for a follow-up to his successful KAMERA OBSKURA exhibition in 2007 at the NCCA (Nat'l Commission for Culture and Arts) Museum. A more ambitious approach is being planned. Several actual Camera Obscura rooms will be set-up in different locations as well as possibly having a travelling Camera Obscura Van. Watchout for it.
